On November 9th, 2023, Vidya Devi Jindal School joyously celebrated its 37th Annual Day. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Lobsang Phuntsok, the esteemed Founder and Director of ‘Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community,’ who presided as the Chief Guest, and Major General Shah, the Guest of Honour from the 33rd Armoured Division, Hisar Cantonment. Notable dignitaries included Mr. Prahlad Singh Chaudhary, Associate Vice President – Human Resource at Jindal Stainless Limited, Ms. Nandita Sahu, the Principal of O.P. Jindal Modern School, Hisar, and other esteemed guests.
The festivities commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, invoking divine blessings, followed by the enchanting Saraswati Vandana performed by the school choir. The atmosphere, adorned with the fragrance of Rajnigandha, exuded a sense of divinity and solemnity. Mrs. Naina Dhillon, the Principal, presented the school report, sharing the highlights of the past year and expressing pride in the school’s achievements across various domains.
The cultural extravaganza featured a harmonious blend of classical and folk dances, drama, and music. A live orchestra, comprising fifty-one students showcasing their musical prowess, captivated the audience with a melodious performance. The bilingual play, ‘Ajab Gajab Paathsala,’ an amalgamation of the literary pieces ‘The Foolish King’ and ‘The Tale of Melon City’ conveyed the underlying message in a whimsical yet thought-provoking manner the themes of character development, the consequences of greed, and the significance of humility and teamwork in the face of unexpected challenges.
More than a century of Junior and senior students presented captivating folk dances representing diverse regions such as Ghoomar, Bihu, Dogri, Dandiya, and Gondhaala. This cultural mosaic not only celebrated the rich diversity of our nation but also highlighted the unity that binds us together as citizens and students of VDJS.
The meritorious students were honoured in various categories, including Achievement Awards for securing 85% and above for six, seven, and eight consecutive years, Academic Excellence Awards, School Spirit Awards, Principal’s Courage and Dignity Awards, Principal’s Integrity Awards, and Awards for Best Talent. The coveted Cock House Trophy for the session 2022-23 was proudly lifted by Sarojini House.
Students showcased their embroidery, painting, art and craft, science models, quilling, and more at an exhibition dedicated to their creative endeavours. The event provided a platform to exhibit and celebrate their diverse talents and skills.
The Chief Guest emphasised the paramount importance of education, urging students to study without stress and encouraging curiosity. He lauded the school fraternity for the impeccable organization of the program. The Head Girl, Parkhi Agarwal, proposed the vote of thanks, concluding the program with the rendition of the School Song.
