Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at VDJS

VDJS  organised a Cross-Country Run on its campus to celebrate International Non-Violence Day and Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October. A qualifying race was conducted on campus on 30th September in which the entire school participated and the final ten participants from each House for each of the four Groups were selected.

The pleasant breeze of October initiated the day as the students and the staff assembled in the track field at 5:40 a.m. The Principal, Ms Naina Dhillon, DOAC, Ms Kamalica Bhowmick and DSW, Ms Shakila Banu flagged off the races and the track field echoed with words of encouragement for the runners. To revere the day, a number of races were also organised for the Support Staff of the school. The sprinters won, the fighters came second and the aspirers were determined to reach the finish line and the winners were awarded medals by the Principal.

Jindalites reminisced about the mammoth contribution of Gandhi ji in shaping unity in diversity among Indians with the soulful rendition of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ by the school choir. In her address, the Principal paid homage to the steal character and courage of Mahatma Gandhi which is an eternal source of inspiration not only for the Indians but also for the people world over who believe in making this world a better place by standing for the right and the just as preached and practised by Gandhi ji. The propitious celebration came to a close with the announcement of the Vice-Prefectorial Board for 2023-24 by Principal.
