Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 5th September with great exuberance and gaiety. The excitement for the day had begun several days in advance with students of Class XII conducting several rounds of meetings amongst themselves to make it an enjoyable day for their gurus. Their hush hush practice sessions, preparations for the decor of the venue and deciding their own look for the day had filled the air with excitement and everyone was looking forward to some great entertainment.
The entire school gathered in the auditorium on the morning of the 5th for the cultural program. Class XII was dressed in all finery giving tough competition to the teachers who were in their glamourous/ dapper best. Each teacher was represented by a student who carried on the role with aplomb. The programme began with the brilliant anchoring of Kavya Jain and Shaily Sharma who held the attention of the audience throughout with their inimitable style and witty repartee. The teachers escorted by their student representatives were called on stage for the exchange of gifts and the perfect photo op. The gift giving was interspersed with cultural performances. Students presented a medley of songs, dances on the songs of the 90s and a skit which captured the essence of school life highlighting the various ways in which the life of students is touched upon by the teachers. The quiz ‘Guess who’ was much enjoyed by all as it entailed guessing the teacher by looking at the childhood photograph. Another quiz was a competitive fun round pitting the students against teachers and was won by students. The dare game also had teachers undertaking different dares like mimicking, doing a walk ramp, faking a cry etc. The video which captured the candid moments of teachers brought a smile to all faces and the ‘Behind the scenes’ gave a glimpse of the efforts put in by the grade XII girls. At the end Head Girl Seerat Dhesi who was the Principal of the Day spoke about the valuable life lessons she got from the Principal which gave her the strength to carry on with her duties with sincerity regardless of how her actions were perceived by others. The festivities ended with the much anticipated announcement for the Jam session and the School song.
Thereafter the faculty and Class XII proceeded to the cafeteria for refreshments. The bonhomie lasted much longer with students expressing their gratitude towards teachers through informal conversations and lots of photo sessions to capture the memories.
The day ended with Principal Ms Shalini Mehrotra giving away the gifts to all members of the faculty. She appreciated everyone for the contribution that they make in the lives of students. She reminded all of the greatness of the noble profession which has a life changing impact on the students and urged all to remain committed towards the role of mentoring the girls with the right mix of love and firmness.
