On 30th January, the School bid a heartfelt farewell to DSWD Dr Archana Sharma who retired after 28 years of illustrious service to the school. Appointed in the year 1992 as PGT Psychology Dr Sharma shouldered various responsibilities like HOD Humanities, House Mistress Sarojini House and Dean of Discipline and Student Welfare in the course of her almost three decade long career. Deeply loved by staff and students alike for her calm demeanour, simplicity and dedication she will always be remembered for her contribution in various areas of school life.
During the staff farewell many teachers shared warm anecdotes of their close association with ma’am with everyone talking about her easy approachability and tireless energy. Principal Ms Mehrotra also shared how it is stalwarts like Dr Sharma who play a lead role in strengthening the edifice that schools like ours are. She thanked ma’am for her various contributions and urged her to initiate a more personal association post retirement.
The students also gave a farewell to ma’am through a special assembly on 31st January. They shared how ma’am was their ‘go to person’ for all their gripes and emotional issues. A dance performance by the girls and a song by Ramchander Sir captured the essence of the occasion. The assembly winded with a video display of some of ma’ams candid pictures. Principal Ms Mehrotra reiterated the enormous contributions of Dr Sharma and thanked her profusely on behalf of the entire community. Dr Sharma with her disarming humility spoke briefly about her journey in school expressing her deep love towards all and gratitude for all that she had accomplished in the course of her stay. Everyone left with warm hearts and prayers for a happy second innings for Dr Sharma.
